The driver transports people and goods in a safe and timely manner, in accordance with ICRC’s rules and regulations and national traffic laws. S/he will be assigned within the Iligan area of responsibility (AoR) and will directly report to the person in charge of fleet in Iligan.
Drives different types of ICRC light vehicles (manual or automatic) to transport people and/or materials in strict adherence to internal security rules and national traffic laws
Constantly monitors security conditions on the road
Ensures that goods are stored inside the vehicle according to local, international, and ICRC safety standards
Checks the assigned vehicle’s equipment, general functioning, and body condition, and ensures that it is kept fueled and clean inside and out
Checks that trips have been authorized where necessary
Reports to the fleet in charge any abnormalities noticed in the vehicle, traffic accidents, security incidents or problems on the road
Transports people/materials to different locations in Mindanao; loads and unloads goods on attributed vehicle
Acts as head of convoy, as needed
A successful candidate will have:
High school diploma or college level education
5 years’ work experience in a similar function
Good comprehension and spoken English, Filipino and Maranao
Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance
Valid professional driving license with restriction codes 1 and 2, for at least 5 years
Good team playing skills
The willingness to travel frequently
The ability to adapt to unexpected changes and to work under a certain level of pressure
As an asset, a successful candidate may have:
Mastered 4x4 vehicle driving skills and use of VHF radios
Awareness of and respect for professional and institutional ethics, particularly with respect to confidentiality
Flexibility to work several weeks in the field and to travel to different areas
Good geographical knowledge of Lanao Del Sur and Lanao Del Norte
