NGO Disaster Preparedness Program is a special program of International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) and its partner organization, Give2Asia. The program has a small core team based in Silang, Cavite and supported by a team of support staff, some of whom are long standing contributors integrated into the project team. A key component of this program is the disaster preparedness community of practice (CoP) which is an informal network of at least 100 local NGOs in 8 countries in Asia.
Team members will typically be co- working with other members of the Regional Center for Asia of IIRR based in Silang, Cavite. Most of these staffs have professional background in one or more of program management, monitoring & evaluation, teaching, research, policy, governance and marketing.

The Communication Officer will provide support to the team in coordinating and providing services to the Community of Practice. The post holder is expected to lead in gathering, sifting, processing and refining content of the DPPAsia.net website and collaborators so that it is useful to our partner organizations in 6 countries where NGODPP operates. We collect information from partners and we share knowledge and digital resources with national and local organizations. Its primary purpose is to provide technical assistance related to content management and data analysis. The staff will be responsible for the overall editing, proof reading and lay-out of the DPPAsia.net website content and management.
The key purpose of this position is to assist and support program communication needs.
Implement the organization’s communication and advocacy strategy in consultation with the COP and other senior staff.
Participate in developing and evaluating feasibility, efficiency and quality of information communication & education (ICE) materials
Support in the implementation of data sharing or resources with partner organizations and maintain project documentation.
Develop key promotional messages in consultation with the project teams
Assist in coordinating communication activities and events of the project and partners
Assist in conducting awareness raising campaigns, events, information dissemination workshops, etc. for partner organizations
Lead in dissemination of communication materials to relevant stakeholders and partner organizations
Co-ordinates the production of internal and external communications, assists in the sub-editing and proof reading of communications materials including but not limited to success stories, photographs, video and social media.
Prepares various written reports, drafts section of case studies, e-briefings and research studies.
Drafts digital briefings and press releases or newsletters for DPPasia.net in accordance with program team, prepares Project newbriefs, brochures and other publicity materials and guidebooks.
Supports program team in development and printing of training material and training guides or manuals.
Assist in fundraising and networking activities with relevant donors and organizations to ensure the continuity of the project and linkage to other IIRR programs. Strategically link the CSVs to other agricultural development programs and ensure synergy of both.
Participate in institution wide activities and initiatives, including but not limited to staff training development, institutional evaluation and planning activities.
Implement other related tasks as assigned.
Experience of working with donor funded projects will have an added advantage.
Knowledge of digital platform, communication research, planning and strategy
Experience in using social media for promotion and marketing such as e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and others
Experience of website CMS and search engines Optimisation (SEO)
Experience of producing press releases, articles, newsletters
Presentation knowledge and understanding of international data protection policy and management
Development of knowledge sharing in particular community based organizations data and relevant information on NGODPP from 6 countries (Myanmar, Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Philippines, Bangladesh, Timor Leste)
Experience of print and digital communication management
Knowledge and experience of using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Access, Google docs
Ability to use video cameras and edit videos; Use of Google Analytics or other website tracking systems
Experience of Photo database management and content management
