A reflection on the history of Stand Alone Senior High School
Tayabas City Division Stand Alone Senior High School (TCDSASHS) is a former Division Stand Alone Senior High School (DSASHS). It is located at Barangay Potol, Tayabas City. The establishment of Senior High School was created by the City Schools Division of Tayabas City under the governance of Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) Dr. Catherine P. Talavera, CESO Vl.
The Stand Alone SHS has grown for two years under the successful supervision of OIC-Principal Dr. Gener C. De los Reyes – Principal IV of Luis Palad Integrated High School (LPIHS). On the third year, Mrs. Leonora L. De Rama was assigned as Principal lI, Mrs. Cecilia R. Pingol and Mrs. Mary Grace M. Cabili designates as Assistant Principal ll, CID and SGOD respectively. Currently, this SY 2019-2020 the TCDSASHS is under the leadership of Mr. Ferdinand Telada Glor – Principal II. The team headed the 35 competitive and trained teaching personnel who serves as frameworks of the academe, thus helps, molds, and develop learners to have unique learning experiences, enhance knowledge and technical skills, and build everyone’s dream under K to 12 program. Seven faculties are full pledge master’s degree graduate, five of them are currently enrolled in the post graduate school achieving the highest level of academic degree known as doctorate degree. On the other hand, 10 faculties are enrolled in master's degree program whereby they are engaged in a variety of different academic disciplines. The school has also certified trainers in different learning areas under TVL Track and four of them are National TVET Trainer Certificate (NTTC) holders. Nine of the non-teaching personnel in the school campus are the administrative officer, registrar, supply officer, cashier, school nurse, the project development officers, the school MOOE funded job orders and security guards deployed by Local Government Unit (LGU).
TCDSASHS is demographically diverse Technical-Vocational Livelihood (TVL) school at the suburb in the City of Tayabas and yet academically challenging institution. Under TVL track the school offers the following strands, Automotive Servicing (ATS), Electrical and Installation Maintenance(EIM), Bread and Pastry Production, Cookery, Food and Beverage Services, Shielded Metal Arch Welding (SMAW), Information and Communications Technology (ICT), and Agri-Crop Production. Academic Track which has two strand, Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) and Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS).
The newest public Stand Alone SHS in the city was opened school year 2016-2017 with 420 as Grade 11 learners. For the two successive school years 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 there were 698 and 692 learners were enrolled respectively. Currently this SY 2019-2020, there are 432 Grade 11 and 294 Grade 12 with a total of 796 learners who are studying in the campus.
Based on the report of Assistant Principal II/ SGOD Mrs. Mary Grace M. Cabili SY 2018-2019 has188 Grade 12 learners that were undergo the first Joint Delivery Voucher Program – Technological Vocational (JDVP-TVL) in cooperation with the private stakeholders College of Science and Technology Communications, Inc. (CSTC), Sariaya, Quezon. The 48, 68, 17, and 29 learners of ICT, HE, SMAW and EIM respectively are 100% National Certificate II (NC II) passers. The 47 out of 58 ATS learners or 81% are also NC II passers while 11 learners received Certificate of Competency(COC). Meanwhile, all 32 Grade 12 assessment examinees from the Accountancy, Business and Management were students of the TCDSASHS PASSED the Competency Assessment on Customer Services National Level Certificate Level II at the College of Science Technology and Communications Inc. (CSTC) Sariaya, Quezon conducted last September 29-30, 2018 and October 1-2, 2018. This was trained and supervised by Mr. Virgilio R. Jao Jr.-Master Teacher I. The 67 and 70 HE and ATS NC II takers from Grade 11 are also got 100% passing rate and received Bread and Pastry and Automotive Servicing NC II respectively. The recipients of National Certificate (NC II) in different learning areas was certified by The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority or TESDA which means Stand Alone SHS learners are qualified and competent to be employed after passed the given assessments.
The school provide the following facilities to meet the needs of the learners, it has a library that contains learning materials, teaching resources, and e- library system, a canteen that plays a vital role in promoting nutritious and palatable foods during snacks and lunch time, a friendly students clinic that provide first aid and emergency care for illness and injury while learners are in the school, a well-equipped laboratories for TVL and Academic Tracks enhances cleverness, and technical skills enable learners to perform task efficiently, a clean and fresh comfort rooms are used by boys and girls to get rid of bodies wastes. Finally, the dance studio and fitness gym that encourage the learners to value the physical well-being by performing physical activities.
With the guidance and leadership of a dedicated and talented teachers, staff and administrators working in a community that supports and values education, the TCDSASHS have a history of providing high quality, comprehensive educational services from grade 11 to grade 12.
The TCDSASHS is not just an ordinary school it is one of the fastest growing TVL- school in CALABARZON. It is the second home for all learners where dexterity, creativity, experience, expertise, and ingenuity are honed. Moreover, the ultimate goal of Stand Alone SHS is to provide the best education that everyone deserves to reach the level of excellence that all learners want to achieve such as “Kolehiyo, Negosyo at Trabaho.”
