Tayabas City Division Stand Alone Produces QUEZON’S First Graduates of ‘ISKOLAR NI JUAN’

Gokongwei Brothers Foundation's flagship scholarship program is Isklolar ni Juan, which is in partnership with Universal Robina Corporation (URC). INJ is a 1-year, TESDA-registered Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) scholarship program, which aims to train underprivileged Public High School graduates, in the field of Mechatronics Servicing (NCII) and Instrumentation and Control Servicing (NCII).
 
The scholarship is fully-subsidized and inclusive of tuition, all meals, dormitory accommodation, uniform, school supplies, weekly transportation, aside from a personal allowance.
 
Out of more than a thousand who applied to the year long program, there were 49 graduates this year; 20 completed the Instrumentation and Control Servicing Program, while 29 completed the Mechatronics Servicing Program. 
 
Upon their graduation, scholars are offered jobs as either production operators or maintenance technicians at various URC BCFG plants all over the country. While a college degree is usually required for URC job applicants. Iskolar ni Juan graduates are provided with this golden opportunity to fast-track their careers. 
 
At the graduation ceremony for the Iskolar ni Juan’s 8th Batch, which took place on May 30, 2019 at the GBF Auditorium - Technical Training Center in Pasig City. Leading the pack is Mr. Jastiva, Jayson Rey who received an Academic Excellence Award as class salutatorian was from Tayabas City a former students of Tayabas City Division Stand Alone Senior High School while Ms. Altarez, Sharmaine placed as first honor and best in Instrumentation and Control was from Gumaca, Quezon. 
 
The other graduates of the program under Instrumentation & Control Servicing are the following: Delos Santos, Randy; Formanez, Alden and Pidedo, Raymark of Gumaca, Quezon. Meanwhile, under the Mechatronics Servicing program are Base, Donn Leandro; Grutas, Cecille; Licardo, Abegail; Lobas, Reynard of Gumaca Quezon, Pronton, Gerold was from Mauban-Quezon and Francia, Dexter was from Tayabas City. 
 
This is done through a successful partnership and cooperation with the following:  Gokongwei Brothers Foundation; Dr. Catherine P. Talavera, CESO VI - Schools Division Superintendent of the City of Tayabas,     Ms. Maylani L. Galicia - Assistant Schools Division Superintendent,         Mr. Wensore M. Cambia, Mr. Renil P. Leonar and Virgilio R. Jao Jr. of Tayabas City Division Stand Alone Senior High School, Former Governor David Jay-Jay Suarez Province of Quezon,  Atty. Melojean M. Puache - Acting Provincial Peso Manager, Ma. Criselda Fernandez Rodas - Employment Facilitator, and Edelisa M. Floresca - Peso Manager- Gumaca Quezon.
 
Mrs. Wilma I. Seño, Plant Manager of URC BCFG on her inspirational message she stated that life as “Iskolar ni Juan” at GBF is not easy as they thought. She said “once you entered GBF this your journey, it marks the milestone of your life.” Being the top of the organization you need to be hardworking, possessed integrity and learn by heart the core values of the company. According to her the secret of success in life is hardworking, perseverance and trust. She advised the newly graduates to keep on learning, and acquiring knowledge, read and updating themselves because everything with us are important.  Finally on her statement “Balikan natin ang mga taong nagbigay ng suporta sa atin, mga guro, classmates, and to our parents that give us life.”
 
Academic excellence awardee Miss Isabel Asad on her inspirational message to her fellow graduates, She shared her moments of struggles while staying at GBF compound, reminisced some thoughts “ang pagtayo sa sariling paa at hindi palampasin ang pagkakataon na maging isang Iskolar ni Juan ang nagbigay na pagkakataon upang mabago ang buhay and build my confidence”. “I don’t want to see my mother na nagbibilad ng plastic sa ilalim ng init ng araw to survive our family.” She also said, “we stay  in the GBF because it is an opportunity for us to uplift and change the living condition of our families.” Behind her success, Miss Asad expressed her heartfelt gratitude to GBF as one of the chosen Iskolar ni Juan.
 
Finally, the graduates are propelling their dreams into reality, they are competent enough and ready to work in a global world.
