Job Description A development NGO urgently needs a Project Manager to lead in the planning, implementation and monitoring of a coconut resiliency project in Southern Mindanao. The Project Manager’s responsibilities include leading a team of technical supervisors and community organizers to thoroughly respond to the needs and issues of coconut farmers and implement comprehensive action plans to guide the achievement of project objectives over time (10 years) and scale (5,000 farmers). The Project Manager is responsible for the accomplishment of all activities and outputs based on the workplan, timeline and budget of the project. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: (1) Lead in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the project. (2) Monitor the project’s progress and ensure that the team completes each task on time and within the budget to keep the project on track. (3) Responsible for setting-up farmers’ organizations and contributes to the continuous improvement of their governance and management. (4) Establish linkages with private companies, government agencies, academic institutions, and civil society organizations to identify needs, roles and modes of cooperation among various stakeholders. (5) Assign tasks to members of the project implementing team and assist with the schedule management. (6) Ensure that stakeholders’ needs are met, in particular in terms of deliverables on farmers mobilization and farm production outputs (contractual milestones). (7) Help prepare and manage budget of the project. (8) Analyze risks and opportunities of the project, and provide mitigation actions. (9) Use tools to monitor progress report, plans and expenditures of the project. (10) Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports.
Qualification (1) Proven work experience in project management for more than three (3 years: preferably rural communities and setting up farmers’ organizations; (2) Possess good organizational skills to support the project team members in performing the steps in completing the project; (3) Excellent communication and analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; preferably speaks the local language. (4) Graduate of economics or any social science course. Master’s degree in Agro-Economics, Business Management or Development Administration is desired; (5) Strong client-oriented and teamwork skills; (6) Familiarity with financial analysis and costbenefit analysis; (7) With knowledge of agro-industry in the Philippines (preferably coconut and Mindanao).
