The Business Development Specialist is responsible for identifying social enterprise opportunities that may be suitable in Protect Wildlife sites and conducting value chain analyses on priority commodities identified e.g. cassava, banana, seaweeds, coffee, feasibility assessments and proposals for such enterprises. He/she will provide technical capacity to project partners (cooperatives/ people’s organizations) on business management operations, concepts and financial analysis. He/she will assist partners on establishing linkages with public and private sector providers, including access to market through events, trade fairs, and social enterprise summits and cross visits. He/she will provide assistance to new and existing social enterprises in formulating strategies to advance business development initiatives of target cooperatives/ people’s organizations. He/she will also provide technical advice to Partner LGUs on development of delivery mechanism for ENRbased livelihoods/enterprises. This is a long-term position based in Manila with travels to all project sites.
Degree in agribusiness, agricultural economics, marketing or related field.
At least 5 years’ experience in agro-business development, value chain analysis, feasibility studies/financial analysis, business planning, particularly of small to medium-scale, community-based agro-enterprises.
Excellent knowledge and skills on the use of Microsoft software especially Windows, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, Word and other tools. Preference would be those who have used Excel in preparing financial statements as part of business planning and analysis.
Familiarity with commonly used tools for market analysis and program design such as sub-sector analysis, gross margin analysis and business planning.
Demonstrated capacity to work with private sector players (financial institutions, exporters, buyers, traders, transporters, input suppliers or processors) and relevant government organizations (DTI, LGUs, others).
Preferably, with experience in managing a successful business enterprise or assisting a local community organization manage a social enterprise.
Excellent interpersonal relationship; a team player.
Demonstrated business acumen in balancing partner communities and business requirements; and experience with community-based programming.
Willing to travel to the project field sites (Palawan, Koronadal, General Santos City, Sarangani, Zamboanga, and Tawi Tawi)
