The Community Engagement Assistant will provide facilitation and coordination support to the Protect Wildlife team in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan in activities with LGUs, CSOs and communities. He/she shall assist in undertaking community engagement activities in priority protected and conservation sites in Palawan through liaising with LGUs, CSOs and community organizations regarding activity schedules and their participation in Protect Wildlife supported activities (capacity building/training, enforcement, behavior change campaigns, livelihood and community enterprise development, research). He/she shall document meetings, workshops and training of stakeholders; facilitate community consultations to obtain free, prior and informed consent for planning, research and other activities in ancestral lands and waters; gather and consolidates community/site profiles and other community-level information; and perform administrative tasks such as maintaining files and project records. Based in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, this position reports to the Field Site Manager.
With an undergraduate degree, preferably in Agriculture, Fisheries, Community Development or related fields. Background on both terrestrial and/or marine ecosystems is an advantage.
Minimum of 2 years progressively responsible experience in relevant position. Experience working in a similar position for an NGO or an international organization is preferred.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment is a must
Must be flexible, willing to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and work irregular hours
Must be a team player and have strong social skills; with demonstrated ability to effectively interact with communities, particularly IPs.
Good command of English (written and spoken); knowledge of local dialects in Palawan is an advantage.
