The Forest Land Use Planning Specialist will train Local Government Unit Forest Land Use Planning (LGU FLUP) Technical Working Groups and FLUP trainors at regional/provincial levels, and mentor them on each step of a participatory FLUP planning process. He/she will ensure that LGU FLUPs are in harmony with CLUPs and other local development, investment and other resource management plans. He/she shall work with site-based GIS Specialists in generating required maps, training on spatial analysis, and validation of policy-designated land uses; with other Strategic Approach (SA) teams/specialists in the development of investment and financing programs; and shall provide advice on planning of implementation actions including setting up of policy support, institutional linkages, strengthening tenurial arrangements, on-site development, and monitoring and reporting of activities. Based in Manila, this position reports to the SA 3 Advisor and the Chief of Party.
An undergraduate degree in Forestry, Agriculture, Fisheries or Environmental Science; advanced studies in relevant fields, preferred;
Knowledge of ENR policies, FLUP and HLURB guidelines on CLUP, ADSPP, PA, and other resource planning requirements is a must.
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in FLUP. Similar experience working for an NGO, international organization, or USAID is a plus;
Sound analytical and reasoning skills;
Fluency in English (written and spoken);
Superior integrity, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills;
Excellent skills in using Microsoft application softwares (Word, powerpoint, and Excel) is a must.
Willing to learn with a demonstrated ability to effectively interact with external stakeholders and project team.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment is a must;
Must be flexible, willing to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
